Citrus trees have a stress response called “white blossom”. Water stress (prolonged lack of water during a period of rest) causes an abundant flowering of small flowers with very few leaves, or no leaves
This type of flowering is exhausting for the tree which may not survive it, which in any case will give small and poor quality fruit. Therefore, careful handling of the water stress technique is needed to achieve early flowering.
How to help trees with white blossom ? Pruning that reduces the volume of the tree will create a balance between the aerial part and the available reserves. Sufficient fertilization will then help to replenish reserves and help create much-needed leaves.
