This variety of Citron essential oil is derived from the Citron Di Salo, a citrus cultivated in the province of Cosenza as well as in Liguria, where it is used to produce Salò liqueur and of course in the Alentejo.
The composition of this citron is particularly rich, containing even more polyphenols than bergamots and exhibiting exceptional antioxidant properties. Its scent is reminiscent of clementines, with a subtle and pleasant aftertaste. As a result, it yields a delicate essential oil that is highly prized.
FRUIT
Known for its thick, fragrant rind and minimal pulp, this citrus is prized not only for essential oil extraction but also for its role in traditional Salò liqueur and various Mediterranean preparations.
Its zest is intensely aromatic, offering notes that are fresh and slightly floral, with a tad of sweetness of more common citrus. The rind's bold content make it an exceptional ingredient in the kitchen.
