Our Bergamot (citrus bergamia) essential oil is carefully extracted from fruit just before maturity when the essential oils are at their peak. The aroma of our Bergamot essential oil is vibrant and clean, offering an true representation of this citrus. It possesses a delicate and gentle floral roundness, mingling with zesty and tangy characteristics.
Bergamots have been grown since 1750 near Reggio di Calabria, Italy for their essential oils. There is also a small production in Africa. There are three varieties : fantastico, femminello, castagnaro. It is harvested from December to February. Our fruit is grown in the Alentejo.
A truly remarkable oil exuding a bright and uplifting citrus fragrance with subtle floral undertones, evoking a sense of freshness and positivity, with a unique depth and complexity that adds a touch of elegance.
It is generally harvested just before complete maturity when the fruit is greenish yellow. The fruit is also interesting for culinary purposes when harvested a little bit later, and like most citrus the leaves are also very aromatic.
